Tudor Fastrider – The Timekeeper for Motorcycle Enthusiasts

Motorcycles from the high-end Italian manufacturer Ducati serve as the inspiration for the design of the chronographs from the Tudor Fastrider series. Designs with bright yellow, red, or olive green dials are dedicated to and correspond with the respective model of the Ducati Scrambler. A highlight of the Fastrider collection is the Fastrider Black Shield with a monobloc case made of light, scratch-resistant ceramic. Inspired by the Ducati XDiavel, this watch's overall black design feels especially sporty thanks to the high-contrast splashes of color on the dial. The first models of the Tudor Fastrider entered the market in 2011, the same year in which the watch and motorcycle manufacturers announced their cooperation with one another. With their sporty designs and functionality, these timepieces are geared toward motorcyclists, fans of motorsport, and sports watch enthusiasts.

The Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Tudor uses the automatic ETA/Valjoux-based caliber 7753 in every Fastrider model. This movement has a 46-hour power reserve and displays the date in a small window at 4:30. A pusher for quickly setting the date is located on the left side of the case at 9 o'clock. On the opposite side, there is a screw down crown. It along with the pusher are covered with a matte black PVD coating like most versions of the Fastrider. The 42-mm case is water resistant up to 150 m (15 bar).

How much does a Tudor Fastrider cost?

With a little luck, you may find a pre-owned Tudor Fastrider for less than 2,000 euros. However, a pre-owned watch from this series usually costs around 2,500 euros. Examples in mint condition with the reference number 42010N demand about 2,800 euros. A ceramic Fastrider Black Shield with red accents and the reference number 42000CR costs almost 3,300 euros new and around 2,800 euros when pre-owned. If you prefer the versions with white or beige accents (Ref. 42000CN), be sure to set aside around 3,400 euros for a watch in mint condition and about 3,000 euros for pre-owned models.

Variants of the Tudor Fastrider

The Tudor Fastrider is available in a range of different dial colors and designs. One of the first models from 2011 had a bright red dial with Arabic numerals as the hour markers, black subdials, and a black edge around the dial. Three vertical, black lines reminiscent of rally stripes run down the right side of the dial and underscore the sporty nature of the Fastrider Chrono. The three red stripes on the matching black textile band are a continuation of the design from the dial. This model has a stainless steel case with a tachymeter scale on its fixed bezel, which can be used to calculate speeds. The small seconds dial sits at 9 o'clock, the 12-hour counter at 6, and the 30-minute counter at 3. In addition to the textile band, there are also leather and stainless steel bands available.

Additional colorful models of the Tudor Fastrider with designs influenced by the Ducati Scrambler came out in 2015. The options for the dial color – red, yellow, or olive green – are the same as those of the motorcycle. Owners of the Scrambler will find the perfect companion in a Fastrider Chrono. Its 42-mm case is made of stainless steel and is entirely satin-brushed. The fixed bezel with a tachymeter scale is matte black and made of ceramic. The pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock, as well as the screw-down crown, are stainless steel with a black PVD coating. The black hands covered in luminous material, black indices, and silver-colored subdials with black edging stand out against the colorful dials. In terms of bands, you have the choice between rubber and leather.

Black Watches: The Tudor Fastrider Black Shield

Those who prefer completely black watches should take a closer look at the Tudor Fastirder Black Shield . Its monobloc case is made of a single piece of ceramic, making the entire watch very light and scratch-resistant. That being said, one disadvantage of this high-tech material is that is can break from hard impacts. Just like the standard Fastriders, the Black Shield comes with either a rubber or leather band. The model with bright red accents is especially eye-catching. This version includes a red second hand, three red hands on the subdials, and red indices, among other red components. Even the Tudor logo at 12 o'clock and the luminous material on the hour and minute hands feature this same, bright hue. The entire dial also had a red border. Those who opt for the leather band can look forward to red seams that brilliantly round off the entire look.
