Description
We are proud to present this rare Rolex Explorer 1016 on behalf of its one owner of nearly 50 years. This UK supplied watch was purchased from A. Fattorini in Harrogate and has been enjoyed and cherished by its original owner ever since. It comes with the following: original Rolex certificate (dated 1976), original invoices, insurance valuations and service invoice. We'll include a later genuine Rolex box with this watch.

Powered by a calibre 1570 automatic movement, the mark 1 "frog foot" dial is original and the case is in the correct serial range for this dial variant. The lume on the dial has aged nicely too. Unlike others you'll find for sale, the hands are original and the correct length (the seconds hand appears to be re-lumed). The bracelet is a Rolex replacement (dated to around 1984) and has the later Oyster links - a big improvement over the older folded link variant. The case and bracelet have been polished in the past and there are scratches consistent now. The plexiglass has light marks too. We haven't polished these out to preserve the watch as much as possible. Overall and given its age, it's in excellent condition.

The previous owner has also written a letter detailing how he came to buy this watch. A wonderful addition to the already outstanding provenance, making this watch a truly unique proposition.
